Future Gigs

He's baaaaaaack! Michael "Fort" Fortunato, one of our original members, has been hard at work on his PhD. While Tom and Matt are away, we're bringing the Doctor back to groove the saxophones and flute for you. Saturday, July 17th we are playing an early show at Cafe 210 in State College, 7:00 - 9:30. Those of you who have seen and heard Fort before know the tricks this Dawg brings to the stage, and those of you who have not yet witnessed...well, you HAVE to be there. Chris Gamble will be there waving the 'bone (we're going to put a flag on the end of that thing) and Andy Harbison will be popping those high notes on trumpet. Laying down the funky grooves on drums will be the great and steady Mr John Raiser, and the usual suspects will fill out the rhythm section - John Wise on the ivories, Mike Siggins with his fretless bass (but how does he know where his fingers go?), Ryan Alford will be working the WAH on electric guitar, and Sherri Orlofsky will be belting out the tunes, perhaps in those 'disco ball' sneakers - come out and see for yourself.

In summary:

July 17, 7-9:30 - Cafe 210, State College

"This is the band I've always wanted," says founder of the group, Sherri Orlofsky. "Whenever I'd see a horn-centric band perform, I'd tell myself that someday I would gather a supergroup of the best musicians I could find."

cdt-articleSend in the Hounds of Soul: Brass gives band a leg up

At a typical music gig, it is likely that you will see a guitarist or two, a drummer, maybe a keyboardist. It is less common to come across a nine-member band with a four-piece horn section, but a group of local musicians have joined forces to bring a new (or old) sound onto the scene.

The Hounds of Soul, which is composed of four horn members and five rhythm members, made their debut in August at the Tussey Mountain Wing Fest
